Hey there! Just a little post to remind that the Review section has been revamped. We've organised sections in which to add reviews for films and books (books such as Acting Guides) and shall be adding more over the next month. If you would like to submit your fansite for a review please email us, as the form is currently not working!
I've also updated the affiliation page as we have 4 new affiliates, so check them out!
Edit: Just added a new audition story! This time from the Lavender Brown casting call in June 2007. Thank you to Dani. :) If you would like to see your audition story here please give us an email!
'Til next time,

Recently Olivia and I have decided to get cracking on writing our articles, and over in our Media Section you can now dip into a few more. We hope these opinion articles spark a debate on the subject and we're always happy to hear your views, however big or small! Below is a snippet of my first article - Are TV audition shows damaging the industry?
However, audition based shows have made it look quick and easy to attain a
kind of stardom that is really celebrity culture based. The number of people
applying for acting degrees and Performing Arts Schools has rocketed to sky-high
figures, and most of the applicants having never set foot in a theatre, or understood what
it means to train to be an artist. People are now approaching the industry with
no real idea of how it works. And who can blame them? These TV shows present the
idea that you only have three weeks to work on your voice, and bam, you'll be
good enough for a West End stage or a Top Ten Hit in the charts. Read on?
Let us know what you think!

Wow! Thank you so much to I Heart Watson for uploading the new Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince trailer to their youtube account. You can watch it here and both Addison and I think it's awesome! The character Romilda Vane also appears at the end of the trailer, which is exciting considering there was a possibility she wasn't written in the final script. Despite rumors of an open casting for this character, the role was won by Anna Shaffer, a professional actress. You can take a look at our history of Harry Potter castings here.
Let us know what you think of the new trailer!

A quick update to let everyone know we are still alive, just working behind the scenes. Its very difficult to keep up writing new articles when we've become so busy. Equally when there aren't any new open castings!
You may have noticed a link to our Survey on the sidebar. Please do fill it out, even if you're a first time visitor! We really require feedback right now, as the site seems to be at a stand-still until we figure out what to do next to boost the site! Any ideas, suggestions, news of open castings etc, you can use our contact form.
Update; a new headshot of Lucy Boynton has surfaced from her profile page at her official agency's website! Check it out here. She looks very grown up considering her last official headshot. What do you think?
Speak to you soon!

Thank you to Dakota Blue Resource for posting about Dakota's new project for the BBC! It has been announced that Dakota will be working on an adaption of popular author Jacqueline Wilson's 'The Dustbin Baby'. The christmas deadline strikes similiarities withEmma's project 'Ballet Shoes', which was aired Christmas 2007.

"The 90-minute film is planned to air around Christmas and also stars The Golden Compass's Dakota Blue Richards and The Thin Blue Line actor David Haig ... The film centres on April Richards, a teenager who was discovered as a baby in an industrial bin behind a pizza parlour and has since spent her life in care."

How awesome is this? I was browsing Perez Hilton's blog as I normally do and discovered this post:

"Spotted: Harry Potter cutie Emma Watson checking out Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass, earlier this week. Could Hermione be coming to college in America????"

We know that Emma's been looking at American colleges, but Harvard? Wow. She's got style. :)

Just to let you know that I'm going around the site, re-doing pages, updating old things and such at the moment! I've edited the Video page and the Site's past look and history page too. Any pages that need an update? Let us know!

Hi guys, thanks for visiting again! I know we haven't been updating as much but thank you for returning anyway!

Thank you so much Rachel Hurd-Wood Web for updating about Rachel appearing in a music video! The "ooooh" factor is right here as Rachel appears in modern-day clothing for an acting job for the first time (that we know of). Click to see the music video here on YouTube, or watch it below.

Rachel plays a stressed out french waitress in a cafe in Paris for Madeleine Peyroux's "A Little Bit". I've never heard of the singer before, and although the song or video isn't to my taste, it's certainly refreshing seeing Rachel in something new!

I always thought I'd never say; "off at uni, too busy to update!" but experiencing uni life is changing all that. Many apologies. Addison should be updating more soon too. :)

Check it out and update soon,

Hello! Olivia here.

Slow on the updates, I know. I've just started Film School and it's very exciting stuff! I hope to post my new articles soon, so don't worry, I'll still be here! :)

I've updated the Lucy Boynton profile page with new quotes, facts and pictures, as United Agents, Lucy's agency, has posted a new headshot of her. She looks very pretty, but I think a better photo could have been taken, don't you? The other new image is a still of Lucy in Sense and Sensibility. Check it out!

Just to let you know I'm currently going through the long process that is sorting out the Fansite Listings! I've completed the Rachel Hurd-Wood fansites listing page but I've yet to complete the others. Chaos!

More updates soon,

Hello! Olivia here.

Slow on the updates, I know. I’ve just started Film School and it’s very exciting stuff! I hope to post my new articles soon, so don’t worry, I’ll still be here!

I’ve updated the Lucy Boynton profile page with new quotes, facts and pictures, as United Agents, Lucy’s agency, has posted a new headshot of her. She looks very pretty, but I think a better photo could have been taken, don’t you? The other new image is a still of Lucy in Sense and Sensibility. Check it out!

Just to let you know I’m currently going through the long process that is sorting out the Fansite Listings! I’ve completed the Rachel Hurd-Wood fansites listing page but I’ve yet to complete the others. Chaos!

More updates soon,

Yes, Straight From School is finally back - and with the new layout that we promised you ages ago!
I hope you can forgive us, but we've had a few problems regarding hosting. Luckily we've got a lovely new host, one that we would gladly reccomend to any students out there. Thanks ever so much to Parade Hosting for hosting us!
In other news, we've been very busy lately. I've been abroad and Olivia is getting ready to start her first year of Film School, but we will get cracking on all our Acting Guides and Updates fairly soon. We just need to get the ball rolling again!
I hope you all like the new layout, designed by me. I have tried ever so hard to make it accessible from all browsers, but I know there are a few rarer types out there that won't work. Drop me a comment using this snazzy new blogging system if you have any problems. I would be happy to sort them out.
Speak to you soon!
